Power of the Pink

Partnering with Walmart, Power of the Pink raises support for breast cancer awareness and research. The program serves the community by offering free mammograms to uninsured or underinsured women. Through regional support in Walmart stores, consumers are encouraged to join the “pink” crusade and purchase a specially marked pink CFL light bulb. Patrons can then “Flip the Switch and Turn on the Power of the Pink.”

As we look to the future of the Power of the Pink program, we are thinking growth! On Mother’s Day 2016 we partnered with the St. Louis Cardinals for Power of the Pink Day at Busch Stadium. The entire stadium was awash in pink to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer. Power of the Pink presented a check on field to the Missouri affiliate of Susan G. Komen for $10,916 to fund mammogram screenings and treatment. To date, Power of the Pink has worked to contribute nearly $900,000 to 61 different breast health organizations across the country.

Community Impact

  • $889,730 in charitable funds raised
  • Provided funding for 9,659 free mammograms to uninsured/underinsured women
  • 1,812 mammograms provided exclusively on Walmart store parking lots
  • 184 breast health and mammography events across 12 states
  • 61 organizations have received funding from program
